    About the film

Neyna openly identifies herself as a transgender woman. There aren't many members of the LGBT community of Sarawak who have come out publicly, especially if they are Muslim.

A few days after she turned 40, Neyna fell severely ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. Later, she was put in an induced coma.

The medium of moving image brought to life the story of a transgender woman in this city. 'Neyna’s Diary' tells of a devoted daughter and a passionate woman who refused to give up on life.

The short film, with a running time of just over seven minutes, narrates her self-discovery, of a loving relationship with her late parents, of her experience with life and death, and her zest for life. It is a complex portrait of a human being, who also happens to be a transgender.

The film received positive comments and garnered 10,000 views in less than a month after it was posted on our Facebook.
